“Wearing” a baby has long been a tradition in many cultures. The mention of a Native American mother almost always conjures up an image of an industrious woman going about her work with her baby swaddled in a papoose wrapped around her back. This was then and is now a very practical way for a mother to accomplish all the many things she has to do in a day while maintaining closeness with her baby and keeping baby happy. Happy babies grow up into happy children and happy children grow into confident happy adults.
